    Hearts next manager!

Media reports suggesting that should Craig Levin be sacked at Hearts, one of their favoured candidates to replace him would be our manager Stephen Robinson, wouldn’t like to see him take a backward step by joining the Jambos

Well that should be good news for all the people wanting Robinson’s head for the past year or so. Personally I think he is a good manager and would be sorry to lose him.

Suggest this ‘fake news’ and Hearts would demand a more high profile candidate. Time will tell

As ever, you'd fear money would talk...Robbo has arguably done as much as anyone can with us, Hearts would offer him more cash in his pocket and more cash to build his team. They're also so comically bad between form and injuries that he couldn't fail to improve them this season and would be guaranteed to be given enough time for a fresh start next summer.

On the other hand, while Aberdeen and the Edinburgh sides are a step up from us in Scotland, they are in the grand scheme of things only sideways moves. In fact, for any manager of ours, Killie, St Johnstone etc with ambitions of going to England one day would arguably be well advised to skip them...McInnes' successor will not have made progress unless he wins something, even if Robinson or a.n. other transforms Hearts into third next season - as good a job as that would be - it would still only be a par result for a club of that size. So unless you're confident enough you could get third while looking like Brazil 1970, you're simply adding in another risk of failure while probably not doing anything extra that would tempt anyone in England to offer you the bingo money.

He seems a very level headed guy, Robbo, who has been burned by being in a toxic club before. I wouldn't begrudge him either decision and I'm sure he'll weigh the pros and cons very carefully.

I am concerned about Hearts as a potential “poacher” of our boss. It’s a great stadium, significant support in terms of numbers and one of the most benevolent owners in the league. Anne Budge is a very good businesswoman, she does not make snap decisions and she has overseen significant investment in the stadium (and possibly the training ground, too - not sure). Only downside is that many of their fans are unrealistic in their demands. If they got themselves a decent manager, they could go places!
