44 years since United played Arbroath in League match - back in 1975 .......

It is 44 years ago since United played Arbroath in the old Scottish First Division - which was the last time these two teams played each another in a league match - 44 years ago !!!!!

United had the likes of Andy Gray, Dave Narey and Paul Sturrock in their team - the date of the last match was 19th March 1975.

Arbroath are currently the best part - time team in Scotland ( above Alloa in the league ) and are on a great run having beat Dunfermline, Alloa and drawing with Partick Thistle and Queen of the South ( along with narrow defeat against Inverness ).

They should bring a support of around 800 - 900 on Saturday and will be organised with a game plan for the match.

I think it's great having them in the league and could end up doing United a few favours against the likes of Ayr and Dundee.

Back in '75 United finished 4th in the league and reached the 2nd round of the European Cup.

Also, Saturday is going to be a hot day with sunshine according to the weather forecast .

History lesson over and really looking forward to the match on Saturday.
