    A Star Is (Re)born

I couldn't give a **** about rumours from the past about his attitude, Chris Martin is still a class act. Apart from his other efforts, his contribution to the goal - good control facing his own goal, a good lay off, a FIFTY YARD RUN from a player even I thought had the acceleration of Andy Garner, and the poise to get the ball on his good foot and score - and the awareness to mock the Leeds fans after the goal, he made my weekend.

I may know **** all tactically but I'd happily play him in preference to Marriott and Waghorn and make the ;system' fit him

Never understood the attitude claims. He's a class player, but we need to use him to his strengths. Worked well under Mac, so maybe the Dutch way is best?

He was ignored by Rowett and FL because his game isn't the way they wanted their #9 to play. Simple as that. Coldplay does have his limitations. Some of those seem to have disappeared from this new slimmer reincarnation. Pleased for the lad.

Chrissy Martin, Derby's number nine........ ****!!

Let’s keep a sense of perspective here. It’s one goal, albeit one to be fondly remembered in the circumstances, but that’s all.
Chris Martin deserves another chance, no problem with that, and good luck to him. Hope it works out for both him and us.
Having said that...Tom Lawrence started the season with two fine goals and Jack Marriott scored a gem too the other week...but then what?
So if Chris Martin might be the answer...how do we fit him/make him fit into what formation?
As MA says, Rowett and Lampard didn’t want him, but their sides played very different styles of football...so how do we make the best use of him remembering, I think, that Marriott enjoyed much of his success at Peterborough playing alongside a big man?

We also need to consider that he's out of contract this summer, isn't he? I can't see us giving him another big one after all the furore over the last one bleeding money

Spot on Geoff he's bled money for three years .If we had been winning games nobody would be mentioning him . After saying that he looks fitter than I've seen him for a long time and I think he fits Cocus style so he does deserve a chance After all he's the best finisher we have at the club . I was hoping we had seen the last of him but needs must at the moment
