    Viewing a game via stats!!

Couldn't see the game today, had to take some visitors up to the occupied North of Nicosia on a jolly!!!!

But followed the BBC stats. If games were won by positive stats then it would have been well over by half time, a boxer would have been pulled to prevent punishment. But it isn't and the iPhone was very nearly dashed up the erse of some Turkish waiter who just seemed to be looking all wrong!!

Even dragging 2 gaols at the end didn't change the stats etc.

One important stat on BBC was both sides had 4 players booked at the time and the 4 were United defenders and the 4 were Arbroath midfield/attackers. Does this suggest that our midfield was letting them through too easily on occasion meaning we had to chop them to bits, or does it mean we were so far up the park the offences were on the half way line.

Whatever it means, I remember times when the stats were the other way round and we would grab a 1-0 when it wasn't deserved. 3 its is 3pts .

Most of the bookings happened in a short spell in the first half when Robson got chopped on their left wing and then there was a bit of Argy Bargy with him and Butcher and a couple of their players. So no, you really can't read anything into the fact it was defenders for us and not for them.

Massive gap from the midfield to the strikers. Midfield pair dropping deep most of the time to collect the ball which has worked well as the FB's have pushed high and moved the LW and RW up the park. But as it showed last week teams can counter that by not playing as compact as Largs says you should! At that point Largs coaches are out their depth. Ayr United done it last wee too. They stayed wide and stopped our full backs getting high.

2 weeks in a row we have come up against seasoned managers, Phanny mcall and Dick Campbell and both shown Robbie that there is so much more to football than the philosophy they teach from the SFA.

Harkes and Stanton tried but ultimately it took the part time team tiring and an non SFA Sporle to have a go to get us going.

Funny how reading the BNB's talk on their game I could have sworn I was reading a report on our game...... Same old SHicht The SFA need roasted for making robots.

SFA system has been fecked for over 20 years, hence no real internal, european or international success. But its a blazers 'jobs for the boys' system that has an easy equilibrium for the pay packets involved.

Its far more difficult to break out of the comfort zone of being a loser.

When there is 30+ yards between your defenders arsing about with the ball and the first Arbroath defender, the midfield are on a hiding to nothing when they come for the ball, turn and find 10 Arbroath defenders and 4 of our attackers somewhere in there! But dont worry, the stats show 57% possession and the result glosses over everything!

Now i think Harkes and Stanton are our best pairing in midfield, but to single either of them out for poor performance with the workload they have is unwarranted!

Butcher Harkes for me is the best pairing but Stanton has done well this season too

It’ll be interesting to see how Arbroath react to that yesterday as that must have been a total sledgehammer having worked so hard to nearly the end. We’re wanting them to recover quickly as we’ll want a favour next week when they’re at home to Ayr.

I think they'll continue in the same way they have for a year or so now.. A difficult one for Ayr, tbh I think Inverness are the ones to watch even more

The week after they play each other.

However we need to just focus on ourselves, next game is Morton, a weird side so far, won all 3 at home and lost all 3 away in the league, however did cause problems at Easter Rd in the league cup in a 5-3 defeat aet but one that we should be trying to get at them right away, when they have lost early goals on the road they have capitulated a bit... surprising for a Hopkins side, they will raise their game of course.

Stanton has done well, early in the season. Performances have started to drop off a cliff though, he was terrible yesterday.
