    Next up - St Mirren

St Mirren will provide Motherwell's opposition at Fir Park on Saturday in round eight of the Premiership. Recent form suggests a home win but the visitors will offer stiff resistance. - External Link

This is 3 points we cannot afford to throw away. Hope to fork they've learned from the Ross County home game!!

I think we'll find life really tough on Saturday. St Mirren are obviously much harder to beat than last season even if not flying yet, their defence has conceded less than goal a (league) game.

We are obviously improving but I remain unconvinced our attack will create much against a side fundamentally happy to sit on their own 18-yard-line.

We ended up losing at least twice at home last season to teams who would have been delighted with a point and if we finish 0-0 on Saturday it'll at least show we've learned something. If we keep our shape and plug away for 90 minutes I'll be happy whether we sneak the win or not...as long as we don't make an attacking change on the hour because we feel obliged to, lose a goal inside 10 minutes and get mugged it'll be progress!

Saturday will be another tough game and will be decided by the odd goal if there is to be any winner. We need to be more streetwise than we were against Ross County, not just in defence but in how we use our subs and of course our discipline. We really could do without picking up another red card here.

Tomorrow will be a very tight affair, and any chances we get we must take full advantage of. IMO if we score first we will win the game, concede the first goal and it’s a 1-0 defeat as they will just close the door putting everyone behind the ball
