You obviously know very little about what went on in that conflict judging by your comments

It never ceases to amaze me how "Tory" policies of lowering taxes and reigning in spending lead to years of growth and prosperity for everyone and when those policies are overturned, the economy inevitably slows to a standstill. You would think the socialists would get the connection but it never seems to occur to them. Don't get me wrong, socialists sometimes have good ideas but they are generally economically incompetent and should never be in charge of the economy. They run the economy like a well-meaning ****ager with his friends at a shopping centre with his dad's credit card.

Don’t preach to me about Thatcher when you haven’t got the first clue about the basket case she had to sort out......we were less than f king bankrupt due to your ideology.

If you want to talk about financial competence try asking Gordon Brown about the majority of our gold reserves he sold off when their value was that of a Mars Bar.

The Left can’t be trusted with money, they spend it like its their own.
Okay, lets work this out with my 'ideology'...

You could argue Gordon Brown wrongly sold half of our gold reserves for about £3.5bn and gold increased by around 5x the price not long afterwards. But in his defence, many economists thought this was the right thing to do at the time, gold had been slowly declining in price for 20 years. Several other countries did the same thing. And he invested the cash in American Bonds which we have been and still are receiving around 5% interest on - we receive no interest on the gold. This coincided with the same period where our public services received the largest peacetime investment since the 2nd World War.

Thatcher inherited, in today's real terms, up to £40bn per year of oil revenues. What did she do with this gift? She gave tax cuts to the rich, this coincided with a period of less spending on our public services. Norway, who were in the same position as us in the 1980's, invested their oil revenues into their pension pots buying world stocks and property. That pot is now worth more than a trillion. Thatcher left us with decaying hospitals, what a legacy.

If only she'd have had Gordon Brown's foresight eh...

Do you reckon she would have gone hell for leather over to the Falklands if the USA's military had walked on there?

Yeah because that was a massive possibility 😠

Her best mate Ronald Reagan was going to invade The Falklands.

    You’re utterly deranged!

You really don’t have a clue about Thatcher......IF Gengis Khan had invaded The Falklands she’d not have gone down without a fight.

I know plenty of people who were not Tory’s but who have a massive admiration for that woman’s balls and her resolve.

Heseltine might have been a Tory but he fought tooth and nail with her over most things and really disliked her on a personal level.

He also said she was the most formidable politician of his 50 odd years in politics and the most towering figure.

    Swinson and Thornberry are a gnat bite on an elephant’s a r s e in comparison to Thatcher....complete Nomark’s,nonentities.

I’m not sure why the US would have invaded a British colony and threatened the inhabitants at gun point tbh. As I said, your previous comments show a lack of understanding and respect.

I blame McMillan for my grandad having to wade through the sea at Dunkirk when the poor b u g g e r was afraid of water and never actually learned to swim.

You've missed my point, which was using USA as an example of military strength, not as an ally. But fine, substitute them for the Soviets if its easier for you.

It doesn't change my original point which is it was quite a lucky event for Thatcher, she used it to her political advantage to win the 1983 election. Before that, her poll ratings were low.

As a side note, Reagan's administration weren't all fully supportive of the UK. Their Secretary of State wanted to side with the Argentinians in the Falklands..

    Thatcher was great ...
She sold off BT , she sold off the gas industry, she sold off the water boards , sold off power industry , privatised the rail industry , she had lots of money from North Sea oil , but she still had record unemployment and was 15% interest rates.

She really f’d up the coal industry, oh may god she bent those guys over and properly done them hard .

    She killed the car industry

    She decimated the steel industry

What a woman , when she died people loved her that much they sent ding dong the witch is dead to number one in the charts .

Teachers went on strike a lot in the eighties

    God bless her
