Yes it is, Paul Cook must be pulling his hair out tonight.

Seriously, a very poor performance, a better side, (no disrespect to Wigan intended) would have took all three points.
We looked clueless tonight on the field and on the touchline.
Ref gives a Derby free kick, second half, clearly tell Davis to wait for the whistle, Davis just decides to take it any way, before ref blows, play is brought back, quite rightly so, and Davis is named MOTM ?
We got away with one tonight, we need a more commanding presence in front of goal or its mid table at best.
The whole team looked short of confidence and we struggled to get even the basics right.
We are in a little run of games where you thought, now we might get some momentum and push on, making hard work of it though, and its painful to watch.

Sheff United with David Bloody McGoldrick leading their line won Autos last season

It really doesn't take a great deal to get out of it, Sheff United were nothing more than organised and disciplined, Cardiff and Burnley before them were exactly the same.

We are absolutely godawful but 1 or 2 players and a bit of a tweak can take us from 12th to 1st in no time. Just look at Norwich last season. Cardiff and Brighton within the past few seasons have gone from bottom 6 previous season to autos next

The league is garbage. Leeds are raved about but they are nothing special. they are actually quite an average side with Bamford leading their attack....

A lot better than the previous outing at the Valley. I had predicted a 1-0 win and so it proved. We always seem to bounce back a little after a really bad un and we would have been warned by their win against the Red Dogs last weekend. Having said that, neither side could have complained if the score had remained at spectacles, 0-0 :wink:

The 2nd half was a better watch than the 1st but that wasn't hard to manage. Martin made the difference. Right through the 1st half we regularly managed to find people "between their lines" but a lack of movement meant they, all too often, had no outlet. Coldplay held the ball up, made their defence thnk and laid off to teammates which made us look more dangerous. All in all a 3 point game to forget. I hope Saturday's game at Hull is a better watch. Interesting point is that, for the 2nd game on the bounce, we go against a team that beat the Tree Huggers in their previous game. Here's hoping the outcome is the same or very similar with Derby taking all 3 points.

Roos - better. Only 2 possible "errors" and IMO just the one. The one that wasn't an error was the cross come shot he tipped out for a corner. Many would think he should have caught it but the ball was moving about in the air and IMO he was right not to take any risks. The one error I saw was the late cross he chose to punch away. He ought to have caught that one.

Malone had a decent game defensively and was often up in the winger's position and put a lot of balls in that, unfortunately, came to nought. His game falls down, for me, in the middle of the pitch. 9 times out of 10 he takes the ball with his back to the line and refuses to use his right to make an attacking pass. It's almost always his left back to one of the CH's of the keeper, taking the pace out of the attack.

Clarke looked more like the ball playing CH we thought we had signed. Starting to look more assured both on and off the ball.

Davies. A Captain Courageous performance playing much of the match with medical gause stuck up his nose to stem the blood flow. Was it 3 or 4 shirts he got through. Following a header in their box, the gause fell out of his nose. he picked it up off the floor and stuffed it back into his nostrils. He had a good game as well.

Bogle still isn't last season's player. When he gets the ball, you just know he is going to cut inside right into the busiest part of the pitch. Where's the young lad who used to sail down the outside and put decent crosses in? I'd love that player back

Shinnie wasn't up to the levels he showed against Luton but had a good game both offensively and defensively. Cracking 92nd minute strike which robbed Wigan of the point they IMO deserved.

Bielik is another who played better than last Saturday. Only caught in possession a couple of times and showing class at times. We need to see more of it.

Paterson was pretty invisible throughout the first half, little surprise he was subbed at HT.

Holmes was busy, doing what he does but not at his best by maybe 25%.

Lawrence frightened them to death in the 1st half with a few runs at them at full speed and one move ended with a cracker of a shot. 2nd half he didn't go at them at full speed and all too often did a "Russell" by going too far and getting muscled off the ball down blind alleys.

Waghorn got into some good positions but didn't get the ball and then when covered he did get it. Put a lot in but wasn't effective.

Overall too many misplaced passes, too many passes not made that should have been and way too many instances of players not being able to control the ball and getting it "stuck under their feet" or as the Dutch put it "having an argument with the ball". However, as I said at the start, a better performance, much better, than the one at the Valley.

Subs - Martin's inclusion after HT made a difference and we looked more dangerous without actually being that. Lowe only got 14 minutes but played well. Marriott put himself about but has missed too many games and needs game time to get "back into the rhythm".

Here's hoping there is another improvement at Hull on Saturday.

Apart from Paterson I thought they all put a shift in.

Roos played very well...with the ball at his feet, he’s probably the best ‘footballing’ keeper we’ve had for a while, but his handling was poor. Chose to punch on at least three occasions when relatively straightforward catches were what was required. Unfortunately sections of the crowd are getting on his back and that isn’t helping. Unless he improves only his ‘footballing’, as opposed to his handling skills, will see him remain in the side imo.

Shinnie was a little disappointing following the rave reviews against Luton, but he put one or two great tackles in, which we need, and was very unlucky to be booked, again imo.

Thought Clarke, Davies, Malone and Bielik were all excellent. Martin, as you say, made a difference. Lawrence was decent, people are just reluctant to give him any praise at the moment, but I just can’t see the point of bringing Marriott on and playing him out wide.

We aren’t as bad as some love to make out. We’re a reliable keeper, a fit Marriott or additional striker, a mobile midfielder and some much needed confidence away from being a decent side. Work in progress which will hopefully continue in January...just need to stay in touch till then.

All about opinions rA and the only "wrong" punch Roos made was that one late on. The rest he got right IMO.

First half there was insufficient urgency and speed of ball circulation. One touch too many leading to loss of said ball. 2nd half better but still not good enough, yet.

I thought it was a load of ****e!! I saw nothing to convince me that there was anything to 'cling onto'! Wigan were tripe yet we struggled to muster anything to raise my levels of interest! Despite being crap I agree with Paul Cook that quite how Wigan lost is difficult to work out except that their strike force are no better than useless!!

Ball circulation way too slow first half. Have to do better. Once we started the one and two touch stuff they didn't have a clue. Before that we didn't have one either.
