MA yes agree with that why how wingers are not allowed to cross over during the game I don't know . Not particularly having ago at Lawrence he's obviously under instructions to play on the left . Just seems a waste of his talent to me it's just so repetitive defender pins him to touchline , Lawrence plays it back to our full back . Or defender gives him a chance he will cut inside beat defender ,go across country nobody moves for him and opposing defenders just take it of him . This is not necessarily the players fault it's the managers Having said that he was one of our better players (not saying much I know )

To me, a little bit of back to basics is what is required as I posted in post #7 in this thread.

Getting down the outside and putting some crosses in will help. Look at how many Chilwell puts in for the Fosse. That is what we need. Our full backs have shown in the past they CAN cross so why don't they do it.

I'd also like to remind our full backs that their primary job is as a defender and, even more so than putting crosses in when they go forward, they should be stopping them being made at our end. This penchant (under orders I believe) of moving in 20 to 30 yards and giving wingers the freedom of the wide areas makes stopping crosses almost impossible and needs changing. Huage the angle and distance to the winger and stay close enough so be able to get to put him under pressure or even intercept whilst being far enough infield to bolster the central defence. It aint rocket science.

Yes that's what I'm saying it's more the manager than the players ,they play the way they are told ,this is where Lampards staff were better than the present coaches imo
Talking of Chilwell I saw him make his first appearance for the Foxes in a friendly at Burton and I thought Wow this lad is going to be some player ,that was three years ago

In this stop start season of tinkering and given our current personnel I’d like to see the following side and formation given a chance with a plan to introduce Holmes and Waghorn around the hour mark as players tire.

    Roos

    Wisdom Davis Clarke

    Bogle Bielik Shinnie Lowe/Malone

    Lawrence

    Martin Marriott

Probably bollux but just my opinion. Thoughts?

Can't remember if it was here or on another forum. I suggested just that formation saying perm any 2 from 3 of Martin, Marriott and Waghorn up top.

Sorry...no plagiarism intended, just a case of great minds thinking alike.

RA for to be worth a try . I would have Sibley in for Lawrence and Waghorn in for Martin . I'm not a Martin fan before I went on holiday I said we would go back with him in side and I think we have , he's a bencher for me

I’m not a great fan of Martin either, mista...but there’s no denying that he made a difference in the second half against Wigan.
Of what we’ve got available he provides a bigger and better target. It was his knock down that provided Shinnie’s shooting opportunity and had Marriott been playing closer to him, rather than being stuck out wide right for the last ten minutes, I think we might have profited by more.

RA I didn't say he shouldn't play I said he should be in the bench ie Leeds Wigan etc Martin is a player who gets through most games doing the bare amount when he starts ie Charlton and Hull
