I would guess D for you both but may be wrong. Think I would be 2 layers up from the bottom. I would basically be wanting to fight the political corner of the bottom layer for type B.

Now you know my story Howdy.
I’m me, Roly. I have no desire to be labelled. Whilst it is an interesting read, I didn’t have the time to get to page 10. Page 1 confirmed my view of things, which is that we have a ‘working class of the mind’ in this country. That accords with my experience of some of the people who I meet in my work and who choose to be dependent upon the state as opposed to seeing what they could do if they tried to better their lot. I wouldn’t like to say how common that mindset is or that the people who I meet are 'typical' of anything, but I detect it quite often.

JUst because people don't like socialism in your view doesn't mean to say they like capitalism either does it?

As regards your view of socialism, you cannot apply what happens in South America and Eastern Europe to what happens in the UK. Cultures and political cultures are very different because of the nature of the beast. Socialism is a broad church and it evolves and changes. I think the criticism of capitalism by Marx is still very valid but I would argue that we don't have the same class set up as it was at the time Marx wrote about it. None the less as i have always argued on here there is still a divide between rich and poor which needs addressing.

Come on you only have to look at p10 its not rocket science! 4 chuffin diagrams man! Give us a roughy at least! I don't need to label you I can guess where you are by the comments you have just made to me among the 1000s of others.

Would you at least agree I look like a B/C (be polite ...) with my views on here?

Surprised that you are against free broadband , Mont, as it would make it cheaper and easier for you to pretend to be lots of different people. How is Paul Warning these days?

Where you and I would really disagree is that I think that it is the duty of government to keep taxes as low as possible, both to allow people to keep more of what they earn and to encourage self reliance. Austerity has caused hardship, but it also cleared out a deal of expensive bureaucracy.

Yes. We’ll have to disagree on the media. You seem to blame them for anything that you don’t like – a ready made excuse for any inconvenient fact.

I think telling the truth is a fairly simple. It looks like a politician going on the TV or radio and saying ‘look – I know that you would like a better health service, more social care provision and – as of today – free fibre internet – but those things cost money and you are going to have to pay'. I appreciate that your political activism gives you and insight on this, however and that the ‘you can have all of these things and someone else is going to pay’ is far easier to sell on the doorstep.
Waheeey! You've actually committed to a policy proposal - income tax raise for 27k and over! Done! Well done lad!

I would agree that it is a governments responsibility to keep taxes as low as possible for the reasons you've given. That's not the issue. Where I think we'd disagree is that I also think that it is a government's responsibility also to fund essential services adequately so that society functions well. You don't seem to disagree that services are not well funded, and you'd like something to be done, but you aren't really giving us any idea of what you think really should be done? That's where I think we differ.

Well done for noticing that your assumption that I am opposed to increases in taxes was wrong. I've signalled it often enough, but your preducices and belief in your own moral superiority blinded you.

Your blindness extends to your suggestion that I don't offer any ideas. I have suggested a policy of honesty, it is you has no solution other than selling unattainable and job destroying 'somebody else will pay' promises on the doorstep on the basis that people won't buy the truth.

There isn't a completely level playing field, but that isn't an excuse for the not trying that I see.

Marx described religion as the opiate of the masses. That's because he hadn't encountered the welfare state
