Here you go mate (see link). Pretty positive stuff don't you think?...and all this in the face of the most savage Tory cuts to public expenditure ever seen. Just think where Rotherham could have been with a Labour government for the last 9 years

Where was it in 2010? Had the town centre improved back then following government policies? From personal experience that time coincided with the decline of the town centre.

You are talking about 2018 when labour hadn't been in power for 8 years so when you say just think where Rotherham could have been with a labour government, I am quite sceptical.

Labour councils in Rotherham (sometimes also when there’s been a Labour government) have had decades to improve the place.

It might show the odd statistical blip that looks good in reports but we all know it’s a run down depressing place.

Save the arguments, just go down to the town centre and marvel at its magnificence.

A new Labour government will make it worse as the country will be saddled with extra debt.

Thing is if or when Tory’s get in again labour council in Rotherham will take it as a 5 year vacation and use the fact that Tory’s are in power to hide the fact that they did nothing themselves. Roly puppy animal you know I’m right since you use the same lines labour come out with.

All it ever is with labour and Tory’s is excuses excuses excuses

Youre not right though are you. You just totally ignore redevelopment over the last 20 odd years of schools, town centre and industrial parks. Doesnt make us the most attractive town in Yorks but it is the fastest growing.

We were ahead in recognising town centres of non tourist towns are dying and started our redevelooment before most others (the planning started mid 90s after it was hit with a double whammy of Meadowhall and a retail recession). Lets wait until the town centre is complete before complaining.

That's a long planning process for our town centre Wanchai. I wonder if it was nesting pigeons that held it up? I suppose it hasn't bothered you out there in Hong Kong. Then again, you'll be ready for moving back to Rotherham with all the rioting that's going off? Or would you rather risk it?

The town centre feels dangerous even in the daytime, on edge, like it could kick off at any time, it has an inner city vibe now.

It's good that there is growth because of that technology park but the council has to do something about the centre.

    https://www.rotherhamadvertiser.co.u...ntre_33765.htm

Link is from 11th October 2019

Old Henleys garage on Wellgate is to have two blocks of flats and 20 houses, one of the block of flats will be for over 50's.
Applications to help with the funding of redevelopment in the town centre / Forge Island have been made to Sheffield City Region and Homes England.
Need to get Developers interested if they aren't already.
Time to judge will be if / when the developments completed.

I don't feel threatened when in Rotherham town centre, it's no different to a lot of other places.

You pump out made up polls and call it developed my old school hasn’t changed one bit it’s still the **** hole it was back then Rotherham town centre shops have all but shut no cooplands no Woolworths no Burger King no kfc no Thornton’s no WH Smith no m&s nothing but a B&M A Argos a Superdrug and the rest is ether bookies banks or a pup, I doubt you even live near Rotherham because anyone who does knows it’s a refugee camp for gambling alcoholics.

It won’t ever be complete they are more concreting on Parkgate than town centre look at the development gone into that area, all that’s being done in Rotherham is a bit of spit and polish to make people go ohhhhh look how shiny it is, but the fact of the matter is nothing is there but drink and slots and banks to fund your addiction.

Shops shut because the parking charges was too much people would sooner carry on to Meadowhall or stop at Parkgate instead both of which parking is free. The second reason is rent from what I heard Rotherham council have put up shop rent to redevelop Rotherham town centre (don’t remember year they did it) unfortunately a lot of shops dropped like flys soon after.

Having just listened to Jeremy Vine destroy Corbyn it beggars belief that anyone could contemplate supporting this communist Labour party and its crazy economy wrecking plans. Don't know what Corbyn will come up with now Trump has firmly said the USA has no interest whatsoever in attacking our NHS.
