    In the 170 competitive derbies

    United wins 80 (47.1%)
    draws 41 (24.1%)
    Dundee wins 49 (28.8%)


    Of our 80 wins
    40 at Tannadice
    39 at Dens
    1 at Tynecastle (3-2 Scottish Cup Semi 1987)

    it's easy to hide behind stats like that, they only provide a partial picture, they don't take into account corner counts or the ability of fans to twirl scarves above their heads.

    When you look at that, it’s incredible that they still peddle this post-1979 argument. United were putting the Dees in their beds well before Wee Jum. Indeed we finished above their ‘Greatest Ever Team’ in 61 and 63. You don’t generate these sort of stats over a single generation - it’s so much bigger than that. Funsters.

    Winning record pre JYM (pre Dec 1971), Winning record post JYM (after May 1993) but much more handsome record during his long tenure that's for sure, even though dundee were relatively decent for a couple years in that time (mid to late eighties before they soon become a yoyo club again)
