The only circumstance that will open the possibility of Shankland leaving in January is if the player himself throws the dummy out the pram and demands a move. Given he chose to come to United just a few months ago and it has also opened up his international career I dont see why he would jump at the first chance to move.

The other slight worry is that if come January we manage to get a 12-15 point lead clear of second, (which with the way things are going currently there is every possibility of), it may be thought within the Club that we are going up regardless of Shankland or not and that a chance to cash in then exists without derailing promotion. I hope that this is not a train of thought though may I strenuously add.
