    Anti-VAR Table

Interesting article on where teams would stand if VAR did not exist.

Spoiler - Wolves would be four points better

Interesting article, I can live with VAR in the sense that it results in fair decisions, so I don’t begrudge those four points. As part of a live game it stinks, that two minute wait...

I think they have rolled it out poorly. If there was an explanation from the referees about why a call was or wasn’t overturned, fans could make more sense of it. I think they need to adopt a policy of overturns requiring clear and conclusive evidence. Many of the offsides calls that have been overturned are very close calls. That’s a call that needs shored up.

It does need to evolve, into a faster process with the final decision simply and clearly explained to the players and fan's, perhaps via the big screens in the grounds by a video clip.

Actually, no, just scrap it I’m always going to hate it.

I’ve just found an article on Sky, don’t know how to link it from my phone... but here’s a cut and paste of a key bit which echoes what I said above.

“During one of the longest Premier League shareholders meetings in recent years, referees boss Mike Riley spoke for more than an hour, admitting that the league had to improve the consistency and speed of decisions along with the communication to fans after 12 weeks of VAR.”

This is going to be actioned over the next two months apparently.
