I'm surprised that it's still going but The Monkwood was one of my first watering holes as a ****ager in the mid-late 1970s. Don't think I'll be making the trip back to watch the game there though.

Last time I was at Solihull (moor Green)was playing for Stocksbridge in an FA cup qualifying game, our centre half got sent off but we still managed a win. Had to get a police escort to coach and away from ground. Wasn’t a nice place to visit even as a player so hope it’s a better experience this time as a fan

It’s strange with pubs in Rotherham in some areas 90% of them have gone yet in others 90% are still open. I think the entire S65 postcode has only 3 old pubs remaining. Park hotel,Tabard and Cavalier whereas in S61 very few of the old pubs have closed down. Can only think of the Sportsman, Domino and the little Effingham

Yes indeed, and I also remember when we were drawn to play Liverpool in the next round but then lost at home to Walsall (but I think it was the League Cup that time). Still bloody annoying though ...

League Cup 1983/4 season under George Kerr. Reached 5th Round, in a cup run that included knocking out Southampton at Millmoor... and lost 2-4 at home to Walsall! (Kilmore got both goals for us)
