Really feel for Smith. He's been shunted from pillar to post during both his spells for us. A proven Championship WINNING no.10 & club player of the year in that position, yet we refuse to play him there.

I know what your mean and, instinctively, I feel the same. But, how I end up feeling about it depends on the quality of any replacements really...

Smith seems to be one of those players that splits fans. Seems a decent enough player but doesn't seem to fit in with our style of play. When he has had the opportunity to press for a starting place, he doesn't seem capable of taking it. I don't think he is pushing any of the regular starters for taking their place Possibly needs a fresh start to kick start his career.

I agree. Ultimately though, it's up to him as if he was really better than the current starters he'd be in.

Cant remember if the timings of the departure/arrival tie in, but i give you Bouhenna for King!

And im sure you have said before about January signings and their lack of fitness and why they are available in the first place.

Despite my "love" for Stanton, his injury record and lack of consistency is what is seeing him oot the door. As for Smith, i have not seen enough of him in his best position to have an opinion on his abilities.

What i am sure of is there will be 2 players, who if they keep themselves fit and on the fringes of the first team, will be hitting the ground running new clubs, and that might be another championship team who may have a manager who knows how to use em against us!

If this is true it would suggest there are players coming in. Both decent players but don't think either will be missed. You could probably count both of their good games in a Utd shirt on one hand.
