We do have a captaincy problem! Assuming one goes for a senior player no one stands out. I don't see Anderson or Broad for the role, Stokes is injury prone, Bairstow is struggling for form so that leaves Root whose own form has deserted him.

Did his ankle ligaments in a football kickabout about five days ago. Been flown home...out for the whole tour. They’ve now been banned from playing football...bit ‘shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted’ imo.
