You could argue that Richard Brindley has been better than the Tootle of last year and therefore worthy of being selected ahead of him, but it was clear that tootle was persona non grata even before then. It's no secret that he personal issues and wasn't looking anywhere near full fitness last season. Kevin Nolan indulged him in the generally sloppy culture that he allowed to develop in his later days.

Some times after an injury or illness a player can be half the player they used to be. Toots looked good in a team that performed well overall and finished 5th, he's not looked the same since that season. Certainly didn't shine above the dross when he played last season.

Is Tootle going out on loan a bad thing when we have two other right backs?

Tootle going on loan is a good thing because he clearly doesn't figure in Ardley's plans. The question is why he doesn't feature in Ardley's plans. If you want to believe that it's entirely down to football reasons, that's up to you.

So why do you think Tootle doesn't feature?

Tootle was good in the play off season but came back totally unfit and game after game was getting nowhere near the pace of play.
I know many on here like conspiracy theories and also to twist anything against Ardley but he was deservedly dropped long before Ardley arrived. If he’s done nothing in training to show any improvement then why would he be picked?
On top of that he has his other alleged issues which probably doesn’t help.
I really hope he turns his fortunes around.

For reasons other than his footballing ability.

Tootle, like many of his teammates returned for the pre season friendlies after the play off season unfit and off the pace. He never recovered the form he displayed the season before and it is likely both injury and his openly publicised mental health issues had a part to play in that. By the time NA arrived he was obviously still struggling but was actually picked several times before being dropped for the last few games of the season as we went to 3 at the back.

If I remember rightly he was one of two full backs who seemed to think letting wingers run past them at ease without a tackle being put in was acceptable, clearly it wasn’t.

He DID get a chance under NA, he was nowhere near his best and this loan move will hopefully get him back on track.

Like others have said, after a good season coming back unfit and not in form are two very good reasons not to be in a managers plans. If those two reasons are due to matters away from football or not,It doesn't really matter from a football side of things. The net result is the same.

Another non story on NCM, and plenty of stirring.

To summarise, unfit and in poor form. Wouldn't be our 1st choice RB, probably not our 2nd IMHO.

Follows, the Bird loan story which was also pretty much a non story.
