    Dean Smith contract extension

OK, first off I need to say, this forum is obviously going to disappear fairly soon. I've been a member since 2011, and there are maybe 6 regular posters which is a shame.

But what are peoples' opinions on Dean Smith getting a 4 year extension this week?

Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche are the longest serving managers in the prem now that Pochettino (5 years) has gone from Spurs.

I'd love us to have the longest serving manager, who is a Villa fan and who got us promoted from nowhere and having us finish in the top 10, top 6, top 5, top 4...but so far, DS has just ticked the box for getting us up out of nowhere.

Do you feel its a bit premature to give him this deal or is it good for the club to secure his services when there are a lot of managers looking at getting the chop - Silva, Pellegrini, Flores, Hassenhutle, etc etc. Is it protecting our guy?

Good move - shows him the owners have confidence in him being the man for the job.

This forum - I agree Sam, it's a real shame.
