Newcastle United half-season tickets on sale this morning: Toon For Change statement:

“With season ticket holders having faced up to a 25% price hike over these past two season, Mike Ashley’s latest stunt, to give away free half-season tickets is another kick in the teeth for our fanbase.

“Last summer, thousands of supporters vowed to no longer attend matches at St James’ Park as a mark of protest against Ashley.

“For the majority of those who chose not to renew season tickets, this was an emotional decision as opposed to a financial one.

“Across the last decade years, thousands more fans have vowed to no longer hand their hard-earned money over to Ashley.
“Some supporters have chosen to renew season tickets annually despite Ashley’s disastrous tenure at the club and these fans’ loyalty is being repaid by the club dishing out half-season tickets free of charge.

“We encourage season ticket holders to claim their free half season ticket and leave the seat empty.

“Every empty seat at SJP sends a message to the footballing world: it’s time for Ashley to sell our football club.”

Are these tickets really free?.Been reading online a lot of people complaining. From the 25 percent increase to those who cancelled in the summer and didn't get a refund on what they had already paid.Hasn't this income paid for them.

And probably be lumped on to the "selling price" plus the interest as a loan from the fat slug.

He had no chance of selling the empty seats so giving them away hasn’t cost him anything

He must think that the people who got the free 10,000 seats will buy them next season

So his business model is to give 20% of the ground free tickets cos they can't sell them , yet expects 40000 to pay £600+ each next season ... Righto then.

Brilliant. Can't wait for the transfer window if Mike is re-stocking.

Agreed. I remember when Carroll left, we were really quick in bringing in Kuqi.
