    RIP

Go and join Brian Clough and Peter Taylor

That era was fantastic, Eranio, Bainio, Stimac, Wanchope.... who can forget that team.

So sad, it really doesn't seem so long ago that he was leading us. Amazing memories

When I first heard Jim Smith had taken over as Derby County manager I was really disappointed, as a person he always seemed a decent bloke but being manager of Derby really disappointed me. I was expecting poor displays and relegation battles, it just goes to show how wrong someone can be about a person, the great times he gave me and many other Rams fans over the period he was here has to be some of the best. Jim Smith and Dave Mackay are my all time greatest managers of Derby. Both now passed away. RIP Jim you will be sadly missed.

    RIP TBE.

Jim was 79. Let's have a minute's applause in the 79th minute this evening.

Good idea Amster. He grew up as a Wednesday fan too, before spending a little while on the Blades’ books, so should go down well all round.

I felt the same. There was a particular photo in the telegraph after the Tranmere defeat which caught some of our shorter players framed with their taller ones and the caption ‘men against boys’ and I’d have been quite happy if he’d been given the push at that point. Thank God others had more faith. Of course it all clicked the following Saturday and that fantastic 5 month Unbeaten run is one of my happiest footballing memories, especially going top on Christmas Eve. RIP Jim and thank you.
