    Jardi Recognised

I would just like to pass on my hearty congratulations to Jardi having been recognised in the New Years
Honours List by being awarded with an MBE. Very well done Sir and richly deserved for your unending work for the local community including Queens.

Must say I agree largely but the awards to the likes of Jardi and others who do work to help the community or neighbours is what such awards should be about. Unfortunately it's been taken over by awards to friends of friends in high places or privileged showbiz types.

Many thanks for the kind comments folks.

Truthhurts, - I invite you to help clear the road sides of Dumfries and Galloway of detritus. I do it every day (how sad I know) but there is plenty of litter for you to pick up, - please join me. You don't need to physically be by my side, but try it every day for a decade or so and then see if as you suggest, "awards are given out like sweeties." Go on, I challenge you to give it a go! It's very satisfying to see the difference you can make and not very difficult, but its that mental toughness to keep going against all the odds and the comments like "what's the point" or "it's someone else's job."

Eventually, if enough of us did something about it and kept the pressure on the police and politicians to make littering a priority you might see our road verges return to how they were, and how they are in most European countries.

Beach cleaning is a great way to get fresh air and exercise, but the by-pass is a real pain in the bahookie, (especially if you tackle it yourself). I've got a meeting with the roads department in January about the state of the bypass, where hopefully some new rules will be considered.

I am planning an early start one Saturday in March (about 6am when it gets light) and need a team of about a dozen folk to blitz it. (You can cover about one mile per hour filling about 6 sacks per side of the by-pass) Any genuine takers please let me know.

    Hoping you'll be there Truthhurts?

    Many thanks.

Much better Jardi getting an award than some of the so - called stars from the entertainment world and sportsmen like cricketers imo !

Many congratulations Jardi. If only more folk around town showed some of the same commitment and enthusiasm as yourself. Keep up the good work

I don't know Jardi but delighted for him. Really good to see someone rewarded for genuine community work.

Re Truthhurts. Take a look at yourself mate. Glad to be glum and delighted to be negative about someone who really strives to improve things.
