FWIW I'm not convinced by Harkes in the slightest. He's very average. Willing to give him time however, but I think he'll get found out big time if we go up.

Disagree, think he's more than capable, does his job!

He does his job, but without Butcher, are we confident he can hold his own with a another? I'm not so sure. He's not the commander that Butcher is. He's not the playmaker that we've been crying out for either. The middle of the park suddenly becomes powderpuff if we're asking Harkes to be the main man.
He gets by in the Championship. I'm not so sure he's going to do as well if we get promoted. Possibly why were looking at this other guy from the States.

Disagree, Harkes is a very good player and only going to improve, also athletic and physically improving which helps these days to go to a better level mostly, he is one of the players we have who imo will develop with us and we will sell for a nice sum

Two of our best performances this season was with him and Stanton in the middle while Butcher filled in at the back

Dunfermline away and the 6-2 derby

And our worst performances of the season were with him & Stanton in the middle, QOTS away and Alloa at home. Throw in the 2-1 great escape vs Arbroath if you want as well which was equally as brutal.

That is a very good point. I think Harkes and Stanton are decent and are good when everything is going well. Not so sure about when the sh*t hits the fan and everyone needs to stand up and be counted. There are not too many players in this squad that when required can take the game by the scruff of the neck and change things around.

Hopefully with the lead we have and the games remaining we won't have to do that too often or I fear a wee blip coming. That's just my Arab pessimism obviously.

When other teams were ahead of us we knew they were going to win the league (so did the bookies) but.... until we get there I still have the fear

Harkes drifts in & out of games. He was poor in the second half of the derby, one of the reasons Dundee won that particular battle

He took a right good smack in the puss and played out the rest of the game with a fractured cheekbone, might have affected him a little
