No further action over Rooney shirt number

FA says no case to answer and doesn't contravene any rules, no doubt Preston, Leeds and Boro are all slitting their wrists at this point, bet our resident morals expert Thickytree isn't best pleased either, he's probably writing a 3 page response about how we punish players convicted of DD by offering them a 3 year contract as punishment

Its still ****e though, I really don't agree with gambling firms sponsoring football clubs and it looks like the goverment are going to get involved as well, so could signal the end of financial support from this industry. And to think there were posters on here who objected to Just eat!

Totally agree Swale. There’s a lot going on about support for mental illness through sport/football and the involvement of betting firms in sponsorship is just hypocrisy for me.
Of all the DCFC controversies over the last year or so Rooney’s shirt number and the involvement of a betting company is the one we’ve heard least about but also the one I’m most uncomfortable with.
Tbh I’d like to get rid of all shirt sponsorship, along with those bloody silly playing surface adverts on cricket and rugby pitches, but if we’ve got to have it then I agree that gambling firms should go the same way as tobacco and alcohol.

Totally agree, my mate died of alcohol addiction. He was a massive Rams fan and his family hate all betting advertising! Time for Ray Whinstone to kick his involvement into touch!!
