Certainly is Alf, for those working in the renewable energy industry/scam, why would you not put them up when you get bunged millions for turning the feckers off.

Gas boilers could be banned from all homes to ensure the UK meets carbon neutral target by 2050.

"Homeowners could be forced to replace their gas boilers to ensure the UK meets its target to be carbon neutral by 2050, ministers are warning. The Government will publish a White Paper later this year which will set out the "bigger decisions" that the UK has to make to meet the target. Lord Duncan of Springbank, the Climate Change minister, said that the White Paper will consider whether the Government should ban gas central heating altogether from all homes. It is not clear if homeowners will have to pay for this new strategy - which is planned to be introduced incrementally over the next decade - and whether there are enough plumbers to carry out the work."

Meanwhile out in the real world we have to live in the situation is this,

"There are 22million houses on mains gas, some 80 per cent of UK homes. If their gas is to be replaced by electricity it may well involve upgrading the entire low voltage distribution for the street – more so if electric battery cars become the norm. Delivering that by 2050 means converting 730,000 houses per year, which is 3,000 per working day or 375 per working hour for the next 30 years. As yet there is simply not the capacity to deliver that. And it doesn’t sound cheap – it’s an additional cost to producing the electricity."

So even if we start now, which we aren't, it's 3,000 homes to convert per working day for the next 30 years !!! Aye go on then, truly these people are demented, the description eco-loons doesn't even begin do them justice.

If Boris says it can be done then, err, oh.

But, the whole nations street lighting seems to have been converted from sodium lamps to eco loon lamps in a very short space of time.
Don't underestimate what can be done if we have the will.

Can someone please remind me just exactly how we are better off using electricity when a lot of the stuff is made from steam? A steam power plant (or generator) produces electricity by burning fuels, including biomass, coal or petroleum.

Eco-loons does not quite cover it!

3,000 homes per day for 30 years 59, it's not the will we need it's several thousand more plumbers. And I've no illusions about Boris either, he and the Tories are as in thrall to eco lunacy as any LibDem. I can remember a few years back, preparing a post on another website pointing out how the EU's Green policies were damaging our economy, and then I checked out our 2008 Climate Change Act and discovered it was far more draconian and damaging to our economy than any legislation emanating from Brussels. When it comes to eco-lunacy and Green Crap virtually all our politicians are fully signed up to it. Surely you must have seen that photo of Michael Gove, gazing up with rapt attention at Greta, as though she had just descended from heaven on a cloud, instead of just being a silly schoolgirl taking gullible grown-ups for a ta-ta.

Yes but you firemen have a vested interest.

If there were no fires, which burn up loads of fossil things, then you would be out of a job.

    Stands to reason.

    I've sussed you.

I've been trying for two weeks to find a plumber to install our new kitchen taps. FFS! A new boiler takes about two months.
