    I agree with you too, alf. It really is a system of survival and will never be anything else at the top level unless some rich Sheikh decides he doesn't really want Newcastle because he prefers a small town team or Mike Ashley tells him to beggar off because the media have got hold of the story!

    Surely there has to be a balance gentlemen on Saturday we got footballed to death by a Norwich second string team.

    I can see the dis advantage of playing open football against the better teams in the league but I’m finding it a little frustrating when we can’t do any different to anyone.

    ( in fairness we did try a bit of football against Leicester ).

    I'm not saying that we should be challenging the top teams in the league Alf. I just think the mentality of the board is financial security in the short term. And so they have put the money in the bank. But the prize of players have gone up drastically since the plan was made, and the money in the bank is worth little now, unless we play in a couple divisions lower, the real value is in the players. And we're not investing in players. We're sticking with what we've got, their value go down, our money won't buy us security in the championship, and down we go. The plan may be championship and farming players for the premier league clubs, but I think we could be bolder than that.
