He's done his bit this season for sure but if we collapse in the months ahead and don't finish fourth it will not be because of his absence.
It will be due the ineffective acquisition of too many loan players who are not able secure game their parent club, mainly wingers and NOT a No9 amongst them.[/QUOTE]
As for the fee, to me it's fine - not great but not terrible. Given he could go either way, you can make the case for or against it as you like, I just don't understand anyone being so vehemently convinced either way, much like I don't get the extent of the reaction to yesterday's loss.
Appears we were under no pressure to sell, secure 3rd place and waited the summer'20 for double.

Handsome Devil I can only assume that you weren’t at the game yesterday if you don’t get the extent of the reaction to yesterday’s loss. We were absolutely abysmal and if it hadn’t been for Gillespie it could have been a real hammering, the way we played we were fortunate to get NIL. We were devoid of heart, drive, ambition and desire to play for the jersey. Play like that in the next three games and I will confidently predict we will not score a single goal. We lack imagination in the middle of the pitch and up front, we also have a total lack of variation in our corners/ free kicks, teams NOW know how to play against us and totally nullify any potential goal threat we had

You think Scott scoring another two goals between now and May would have doubled his value!? I'm sure Motherwell will employ you quite happily as an agent if you could back that up.

I wasn't there but I have been to plenty dross thrown in when we were flying high before and I didn't understand it then either. If you say we were just beaten by a much better team in Rangers, this was our second bad performance in 10 dating all the way back to the loss at Easter Road. Of the others we cruised a potentially tricky cup tie, won six in the league, drew one and lost two. From that kind of form, I just don't think there's any performance or result that justifies the reaction seen here. As I said elsewhere, it's not the concern or criticism I find strange (of the performance, the Scott decision, the striker situation etc), it's the strength of it in the face of plenty of evidence to the contrary, the utter conviction of some opinions held on issues which clearly aren't black and white.

You really think the club didn't weigh up the possibilities in selling Scott and signing the lad we did? What's the worst that can happen now, we finish top six and lose away to an SPL side in the cup - which we're obviously not winning regardless given the return to strength of the OF. Half of our fans don't seem bothered by Europe so if you call that an okay season anyway and use the cash to re-sign Long, Turnbull and whoever for next year, is it not money well spent? Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I certainly think that from our position, given the rest of the teams atm, a wee gamble this season would have been worth it but like everyone else on here I'm not privy to the details. With that in mind, given we've been well run by those in charge now and Robinson - despite his many flaws - has done an excellent job overall, we could maybe wait more than 24 hours before throwing the toys out the pram.

I am fairly confident a transfer in excess £1m with add-ons achieved. How can you not see we sold him prematurely ?
He had 2.5 yrs left his contract .. we had until the summer 2021 before consider any bids.
Unless a £1m release clause his contract (?) and suggest benefit hindsight .. too low.

Maybe he had that clause, maybe he'd down tools if not sold, maybe the staff thought his progress needed better specialised coaching rather than simply more games in the SPFL. Maybe we need the money to urgently do something else.

Given we've recently been excellent at maximising revenue (at least relatively compared to before), didn't roll over on Turnbull as predicted by many and there's however many unknowns, how can you be so certain the club got it so badly wrong here?

Because now without a potential match winner we are on a slippery slope which will ultimately see us head back down the league. We must be the only team in the league who doesn’t have a recognised centre forward who can hold the ball up and make runs in behind the opposition defenders. IMO I think we will struggle in the next three league games and will go out of the cup to St.Mirren I honestly hope the players prove me totally wrong.

I take your point about the lack of a recognised striker and that has been the case since the start of the season but even so, we are third in the league. We must be doing something right.

Robinson's time with us can split up nicely into half seasons:

    2017
Feb-May - kept up an absolutely doomed looking side, success.
August-Dec - built a side around Moult, reached cup final, effectively safe by Xmas. Success.

    2018
Jan-May - rebuilt after Moult, safe by February, reached cup final, success.
August-Dec - disaster on many levels. Failure.

    2019
Jan-May - rebuilt with 'young Motherwell etc', success.
Aug-Dec - rebuilt again, safe by November, on record point pace. Success.

On top of this he's helped raise massive transfer fees through spotting a player or putting the final touches on our youth products.

There comes a time when despite our concerns, we maybe just accept he might know more about what he's doing than we do on here.

Even if he gets this chunk to May horribly wrong, his record will still be good enough to merit full support and backing through the summer.

Yep - reminds me in the week of Terry Jones passing of that famous line in the Life of Brian (amended for the sake of fitbaw) ... 'Wot? No! He's not Arry Kane, he's just a very, very potentially decent player'.
A decent fee with add-on's does me.
