    Just looked him up Ragatino and he was born 6 days before my father so my Dad would have seen him play many time before the war.

    I see he played at the club until aged 40 in 1946. It was that year when I was 10 my uncle took me to the first game to be played after the war. A friendly against Middlesbrough so I may have actually seen your grandad play.

    Yes, that's exactly the question I was asking these posters who had a big team near to them.

    I think it does show a special devotion because for myself I could never ever put another club before my home town club.

    hamburg - however the british military hospital there. My old man was a newburn man and after a few years of wandering thanks to army ended up in newcastle
    ( do have a soft spot though for monchengladbach as i have family there)
