Surprised to hear there were bottles being thrown at players. I'm not into rugby but one thing I do know is that there has always been a culture of respect in rugby that sadly was lost in football many years ago, at least amongst some fans.

Any violence you see in rugby is usually on the pitch, not in or from the stands. I hope some of the dreg elements from football aren't now also infesting the egg chasing.

When we used to play football on the playground, there'd always be that game once a year a so which would degenerate into farce over a disputed goal and somebody would pick up the ball, shove it under their shirt and run the length of the pitch before dropping it and kicking it over the line and a "fight" would break out with lots of pulling and pushing. Break time ruined.
    That;s basically rugby right there.
