It used to be ESR but that has changed now! You can use lethal force if your life is being threatened, it has to be proportional to the threat being posed, in essence you have to be able to defend the decision on why you chose to act in such a way which is why this Policeman in in the Sh1t!

You can bet all the accounts of the incident in the note books of the several bobbies witnessing the incident will all be identical.

    Sky News reports.....

“our officers responded to disorder outside the transport interchange”

"A full, open investigation, including extended video footage, will take place to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the actions which led to a 16-year-old boy sustaining a head injury from an officer's baton, and an officer being assaulted, sustaining injuries to his stomach and head”

When did that happen.....? Clearly he wasn’t injured badly Prior to te king half the kids head out!

Been thrown in to muddy the water Jules.

No doubt there was an incident elsewhere befooar, during, after the match involving an officer but ad be willing to bet the incident was nowhere near the lad whose skull was clubbed or at the same time. I would also guess the injuries to this other officers stomach and head were not inflicted by a potentially lethal club.

    Classic PR diversion tactic.

Moving the kick off time didn't seem too successful did it?

The injuries sustained by the officer were from an older gent who intervened after the officer struck the lad. He grabbed the officers hair/ head then fell over. When the officer raised his baton to strike him, the gent kicked out towards his stomach. There's an extended video showing this on the rounds. It also shows a female officer lashing out with the baton but to the legs of the older gent.

On the main BBC Website it says that this incident has been referred to an INDEPENDANT commision to investigate.
What worries me is this statement:
"South Yorkshire Police said: "A full review of all available footage will be undertaken. The clip shown on social media shows only a very brief period of time, and in order to understand the full context of the situation we would ask anyone who was a witness or has further footage of what took place to contact us."
Even if there is more to this than is shown or we have seen it is still TOTALLY unaceptable for the Police Officer to hit an unarmed 16 year old over the head repeatedly with his baton!!!!!

Police Witness Report to Independent Inquiry--

" On seeing my colleague PC 3139 strolling calmly towards him with his baton still in its holder I saw the youth go on his hands and knees and violently and repeatedly bang his skull against PC 3139's baton so as to cause himself an injury. There was little PC 3139 could do to prevent this. This was witnessed by a number of my colleagues standing nearby".

Tha reyt Perks. What else was happening on the street nearby does not excuse the actions of PC 3139.
