Thank goodness for Arsene Venger who is now Head of Global Development at FIFA.
He has put forward a proposal to change the offside rule so that if any part of the attacker is in line with the defender, the attacker will be deemed to be onside. This is being referred to as the daylight rule.
It will be voted on in the next few weeks and if it goes through (it is expected to) then the new interpretation of the offside rule will be in place for the Euros and will eliminate much of the current VAR controversy.
Venger is a proper football man and this sounds like an excellent proposal to me.

Largely cosmetic as clear daylight will still boil down to cases of a 'toenail' offside.

But, the rule makes it easiler for attackers to stay onside.

Exactly. The line has just moved a bit, in favour of the attack. Might be a good thing. Still a line though. Critics will be moaning that the "daylight" was so minute that the goal should have stood or that the only overlap was the defender's toenail so the goal should have been allowed. The TV pundits will moan because they are a bit thick and don't understand it's a simple yes or no decision and "only just" or "not quite" shouldn't come into it

should have wrote "disallowed" here. Combination of posting on phone and poor eyesight. You know what I meant (possibly)

Too many on here just seem to enjoy moaning and seem unable to grasp the reason for the proposed change.
The new interpretation of the rule will shift the advantage in favour of the attacker and should result in more goals being scored rather than seeing them ruled out for microscopic offences. In fact all of the goals ruled out this season by the VAR multi-coloured lines would have stood based on this proposal.
Numerous current and former players have expressed their support for the proposed change but maybe they don't know as much as the experts on here ☹.
Get used to it because it's going to happen.

Who exactly is moaning about, or unable to grasp the reason for the proposed change?

The same person who's moaning and Cant seem to grasp that offside, even by a toe is offside.

Well I agree it wasn't "clear and obvious" what you was trying to say.
