Thread: Today's disallowed goal.

  1. #1

    Today's disallowed goal.

Cannot figure out who was given offside.
Callum Robinson was onside when the ball was nodded forward.
Philips is on the deck in the goalmouth with a forest player with him. He cannot be offside.
The ball definitely crosses the line before rebounding off Philips.

It was something to do with Bartley interfering with play and stopping a forest defender from being able to clear from the goal line.

I think the decision was a complete cop out. From the replay you can see the ball is clearly over the line. And Bartley is on his back alongside the Forest player - doesn’t look like either are impeded as they are both on their ar@es. The problem is (I think) the goal looks wrong as Bartley puts his hand up against his face - but by that stage the ball is already well over the line.

Anyway it is as it is I guess.

I'd have to watch again but I thought the replay shows Bartley (who I think is the player on the floor) holding back the Forest player. There was a lot going on at the time and I hadn't even realised the ball had gone over the line, the replays I've seen aren't great.

That's what the Sky pundits came up with but the goal was officially ruled out for offside, not interfering with play.
It would be interesting to see the refs official report. Who was offside?
For me, the linesman has ballsed this up and cost us 2 points.

Watching it live. The ball was over the line by more than a foot. It wasn't a close decision. There was additional footage that showed the ball over the line from a camera shot looking along the goal line. Its interesting that Sky decided not to keep that footage in the highlights footage of the game.
The Sky commentator initially thought the ball hadn't crossed the line. He didn't even consider offside. He then saw the footage of the ball over the line and said "he was confused" by the decision.

The ‘goal’ should have been allowed, simple as that, the officials got it wrong, but hey ho, it happens sometimes, we had enough chances to bury that bunch of cloggers.
