I'm happy to pay to avoid that but appreciate others don't. But I'm not sure that others realise that this "free TV" is without this cost to quality enjoyment of TV. We wouldn't tolerate 4 lots of adverts in the middle of a footy game, not sure why anyone would want to tolerate it in the middle of a decent TV show?
ITV you get 4 minutes of of advertising then back to program if you watch something on sky its same thing. Personally me and my family just press pause button go get a drink come back and watch tv.

Let me put it another way let’s say bbc came out and said we will add adverts but in return we will air all your local football games on a new bbc football channel as well as a second new channel that has all your favourite non bbc made shows on? Would you accept adverts then if it meant the quality of tv improved? Or would you rarther pay for something you don’t watch?

The highest rates of drug-resistant TB are in the Baltic States, Russia, Ukraine and China.

So immigrants from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have contributed to the rise in the UK, although I don't think many Estonians made the trip.

Let me put it this way. If all you had was the commercial free BBC there would be far more bent cocks in this world.

If you're happy to stop watching a good programme every 12 minutes and go get a drink, then you're a very different consumer of entertainment than I am! That work for movies too? Sheesh. Yeah, whilst we're about it, let's bring down football ticket prices by having 4 minute breaks in games every 12 mins.

Personally I think the BBC output is very high standard across many media types. This helps keep the quality of the competition up I think. I think the quality in other countries I've stayed is very poor by comparison. I really appreciate that my kids can watch TV without toys and treats being thrust in her face every few mins. However, it does seem outdated that all have to pay whether you watch it or not and am happy for it to be reviewed. But as op says, not sure at all it is being reviewed for this purpose or just because it is critical of all parties, right and left, and this government seems hugely sensitive to any criticism. Channel 4 next.
