The guy who owns Cutlers says the pub business does not make money. They make their money from the brewery side of the business.

Maybe they should shut the pubs and just make the ale then 😉

There must be a reason why they don’t but I just can’t put my finger on what it is.

I’ve tried to do a bit of number crunching but it’s stumped me.

I’ve worked it out.

If the brewery drops the price of ale supplied to the Cutlers might that help the pub business make money? Keep bar prices the same and Bob’s your Uncle.

Wait a minute though.

If they do that, the brewery won’t be profitable. Or will it.

Can’t for the life of me understand why they have any pubs at all. After all, why would a brewery have any interest in a pub or pubs.

Next time you see him ask if he can have a word with himself in the shower to discuss pricing across the businesses.

Then maybe with his accountant as well.
