    Just a thought.

In summer it was pointed out time and again that we needed another CM, but we didn't sign one, we went into the season with just Cork and Westwood, neither got injured and now we have signed another in Brownhill, so we've got away with it. Up front we have four strikers so plenty of cover, and how essential that cover was is shown by the fact that Barnes and Wood are both out but we aren't missing them, we have adequate replacements.

Just suppose last September or October it had been Cork and Westwood out injured as Wood and Barnes are now, our midfield would have been right mess, a collection of square pegs in round holes, but we were lucky, the injuries hit a part of the team where we had cover. Sometimes you need a bit of luck, but it's not a good idea, or good management, to depend on it.

    Just saying like.

If my auntie had met your uncle we might be cousins sinkov. Perish the thought! We could have played Hendrick and McNeil centre mid. Just saying like.[/QUOTE]

It's not a hypothetical situation though BT, we've tried something similar before, we needed another CM in the 14/15 January window but we didn't sign one and tried to play out the rest of the PL season with just Marney and Jones. First game after the window closed Marney was out injured for the season and the following season we were playing in the Championship again. We got away with it this time because the injuries were to our strikers, if it had been the CMs again it might not have been so pretty. Just saying like.

I really can't understand how we have managed to get as many points, after all, a lot of our fans on here had us relegated after just a few games with all our off field failures.

Neither can I Sub, there are some fans now talking about European football next season who, only a few short weeks ago, had resigned themselves to Championship football next season.

Just goes to show that my old Dad was right, he used to say there were nowt so fickle as football fans, or was it my Mum ?

    Maybe he meant both 59.

When my mum died my dad found she had quite a bit of spare cash stashed away in a shoe box that he knew nothing about, I knew about it, my mum called it her slush fund, and I was often a beneficiary. He was quite distraught about it, he always managed the finances and he said, 'Why did she do that, if she ever wanted any money all she had to do was ask me'. He was very old school bless him, he couldn't quite grasp the fact that that was the very reason she did it.
