"no specific regulation in place governing such a scenario" according to a Telegraph report on 28 February.

If they decided to allow the results to stand and promote and relegate as of the date of abandonment, I guess there would be the possibility of limiting it to non-play off positions as 3rd was never a guarantee of promotion (so just 2 down from the Prem and the 2 auto places up and so on, which wouldn't see us going up as things stand, so maybe we really do need to try and move up another place just in case*)

*L2 needs two up to make up 24 for next season.

We are a ski tour operator specialising in the Aosta Valley in... Northern Italy. This is a disaster for us economically as Easter has our 3 busiest weeks of the season, representing about 40% of our revenue. As no one can travel, we have to refund everyone in full - it's not covered by insurance.

Given that 450 people die a day from cancer, and 50% of us are going to get it, it does seem rather alarmist to me. Whilst I agree we need to take some precautions we have to realise that extreme measures will result in people running into financial difficulties. This will lead to a rise in suicides, people losing their homes and probably civil unrest.

Would the suicides be significant if fewer than 450 per day?

Couldn't read the full article, is the gist of it that they'd have to have a meeting and vote on what to do?

Very very good point about finishing second.

This is the dilemma, many will lose their jobs, and we have a society which relies heavily on credit. Mental health is already a problem, for many, this I believe, will be a tipping point.

I can probably see the whole article because I've got javascript turned off (I'm not subscribed)/

The important bits are "Were the Premier League season not completed, it is likely crisis talks would take place to determine whether previous results would be allowed to stand or whether the entire campaign was rendered null and void.
Any final ruling could depend on how many fixtures had been played, similar to the results of abandoned matches in some sporting competitions being allowed to stand if a certain percentage of them have been completed....... Whatever ruling the Premier League and other governing bodies made, it therefore would be impossible to rule out a legal challenge from any team adversely impacted as a result.

Another potentially awkward scenario would be that some leagues complete and some don't by declaring the season as null and void. What would that mean for the Champions League and Europa competitions? Do Tottenham get another go at the CL? Is this season's CL replayed next? What about teams who do complete and qualify this season? Do they have to wait another year or miss out altogether?

According to the scientific expert Patrick Vallance with Johnson on the tele earlier, the flu will affect 80% of the population... currently standing at 66.4 million.

Of that, 1% will die.... what he didn’t say was what 1% equates to..... over 600,000.

This is ever so slightly more than seasonal flu which in its worst years, accounts for 10,000 deaths per year in the UK.

Exactly 100 years after the last pandemic... Spanish Flu, which killed 100 million world wide (mainly young people) here we are again.

Money and monetary loss are nothing to what is going to happen over the next few months.

Just seen BBC.... “Sophie, what they can say, is that 9 out of 10 people will survive this”

    .... do the maths.
