    Perfectionism

This is my attempt to maintain some sort of conversation. One of my personality types biggest problems is perfectionism. No matter what, our standards are so high, life becomes very painful, its all unconscious of course.

An example of this is expecting Cambridge United to win football matches. Even though the evidence that this can occur is scant at best, and 80% of the time is absent, it is still in my head. And I even get annoyed when it doesn't happen, and then pull to pieces the players who let the club down, over and over again, expecting them to improve.

    When they cant.

    HOW WRONG IS THAT.

If I apply that attitude generally, things get a lot better. It is better to regard Cambridge United as a community resource, a social club if you like, and regard any form of success, or wins, as a pleasant bonus. Even during a game in the summer maybe we can get a sun umbrella on the pitch with a waiter serving drinks, even cocktails. We could have a bar in the south Habbin, its always empty of fans.

It could be in a corner of the pitch. If the ball comes flying in and knocks drinks over, we can all have a laugh and shout" good shot Liam".

Stalls could be set up in front of the south stand, fashions for the ladies. If we had beat the goalie in the Newmarket road car park during the game, I wonder if that would draw a bigger crowd.

We could use a beach ball as a bit of fun, or tie the goalies legs together. We could play music on the tannoy during the game, lounge music would be good, or slow piano nocturns.

Remember those ring a duck stalls in the fairs that no longer exist due to the socialist council?, we could raise cash say a pound, and give fans a big net, and see if they can catch the ball while its in play.

So many ideas, not enough time. It all sounds good to me, failure is allowed.

    Major Roger Hillyard Bostwick.
