We're only really delaying things with the lockdown.

Maybe they should release one region from lockdown at a time so the NHS could then manage?

    Health v The Economy .

    The uncomfortable conversation .

I take the point a deep depression will lead to loss of life , there's no hiding behind that , poorer people die earlier due to austerity , it's a proven fact .

Champions of the economy and enough is enough would most likely think differently if they were to lose loved ones to this pandemic instead of looking at statistics and somebody else's loved ones dying alone with three people at their funeral .

We continue with the lockdown , we continue with the social distancing and we give the NHS the best chance possible to save as many lives as possible .

We do that because it's the right thing to do as human beings but we do that knowing full well the pandemic will claim lives indirectly .

It's the best hand we can make with the poor cards we have .

There are no winners here , none what so ever .

listened to LBC this morning and the vile woman socialist who called to revel in the PMs illness is indicative of how they think.

quite sickening that people like this still exist.

Let's see what you think of people like this existing

Tory toff Jacob Rees-Mogg’s firm stands to make a fortune out of the turmoil caused by the coronavirus crisis.

The MP owns at least 15 per cent of a company investing in businesses hit by falling share values.

Somerset Capital Management says investors have a “once in a generation” chance of “super normal returns”.

Mr Rees-Mogg stood down as a director of SCM to become Leader of the House of Commons. SCM said it was focusing on clients’ long-term security.

It came as the UK death toll rose by a record 708 – including a boy aged five.

As millions face financial misery, SCM managers are buying into businesses where valuations have tumbled – but should bounce back. Potential gains of 500 per cent are touted.

Ay chance you could respond with a sensible answer?
Unless of course you subscribe to SCM's view

A very good point Exile. It is how the system works. Some unscrupulous folks are happy to make money from others misery. I'm not going to say all Tories would do this or I will have the usual pack on my back but Rees Mogg represents everything bad about the Tory party and If I was a member of that Party I would look to get shut of him particularly now...

I'm curious. They're a firm that attempt to invest their clients money wisely. By clients, I mean people - like you and me. Would you have them invest in businesses they think will fail? Would those companies whose 'value has tumbled' be better off if SCM didn't invest in them?

I'm no fan of Jacob Rees Mogg, but you're allowing your dislike of him to cloud your judgement.
