The next season could start later and still finish in time for the 2021 Euros. Just needs some amended planning.
It might be that if football was to restart in October for example, they could finish off the final 9 games of this season. And then go straight into next season, but only play half the games. So 23 games for the championship and 19 for the Premiership, equal home and away game and one of them at a neutral ground..

Every team then knows the implications and exactly where they stand, from the beginning.

Many teams who were in line for promotion are extremely hacked off and are questioning why the PPG (points per game) system hasn’t been used. My own team Dudley Town would have been promoted under PPG but now have to accept the season has to be replayed.

The Premier League down to Steps 1 and 2 of the National League System inclusive it seems are either doing something different or are gauging response to the decision for the lower leagues?
It appears that a letter has been sent to the FA today requesting that they reconsider their decision to void some of the lower leagues this year. They are claiming that the decision has been made in haste and is not consistent with all other leagues under their jurisdiction. I noticed that Dudley FC was one of the signatories on this letter. We can only hope.

UEFA have announced that restriction on broadcasting live games at 3pm on Saturdays has been temporarily lifted. This paves the way for matches to be televised should the season restart with matches played behind closed doors.
