You must be familiar with this having worked in the fire service?

If you did a report on the effectiveness of fire alarms then you might begin the piece by saying, "After looking at the available evidence we estimate that if every building was fitted with a fire alarm the number of deaths in the UK would reduce by around 15-25%"

You wouldn't say, "If every building was fitted with a fire alarm then the number of deaths would reduce by 20%"
Are all Lib Dems so pedantic 59er?

Well I've yet to hear a scientist or mathematician 'suggest' that 2+2=4, they all seem quite adamant that it actually does.

It's the oldest trick in the FAKE NEWS playbook 59, lefties like your good self are continually whining about the dangers to our health of food imported from the USA, particularly with regard to chicken washed in this dreadful substance called Chlorine, and the higher incidence of food poisoning in the US. There is never any debate on the subject, it's presented as an undisputed fact by lefties that chlorinated chicken is a health risk and food poisoning is more prevalent in the US. But when you put up a link, there is only the suggestion that this may be the case, so not a fact at all then, if it may be the case, then it follows that it also may not be the case doesn't it, so we're into lefty FAKE NEWS territory yet again.

And dig a little deeper, the Sustain site you put up, in it's preamble talks about 10 times more cases of food poisoning in the US than the UK, the first bullet point shows the stats they got that figure from and at the end it says in brackets, (see note 3 below). No doubt not many will bother, but if you do will find it admits the findings are flawed, they were not comparing like with like and are of no worth whatsoever. But of course they just hide this in a little footnote and leave the false claim at the top of the page knowing full well that, by their own admission, the 10 times figure is a load of bollox. FAKE NEWS

But that's how FAKE NEWS operates, massive headlines which resonate and stick in gullible people's minds, then an insignificant retraction that barely anyone will notice. And the damage is done, the mud sicks, a very neat trick indeed.
