    O/T Furloughed

Finished tonight for a minimum of 4 weeks and expected to be longer .

The owner of the business is an extremely decent and honest guy and is putting in the 20% to make our wages up to our normal salary with of course the government putting in the 80% .

To be honest it had to happen , even though we are classed as key workers because we supply Network Rail and the Electricity supply companies .

Many of our key suppliers were closing down and several Network Rail sites have also had to shut because of the pandemic .

More importantly our own health risks were becoming a factor as the virus spreads .

It's uncertain what the business and trading conditions will look like once this is over but that's for another conversation I feel .

It was a weird atmosphere as we left at 4.30pm for home amongst the lads .

You might say sombre , even a full month off work on full pay didn't exactly raise much banter because we all know the severity of this situation and it's hardly what you'd class as a holiday .

The UK death toll figure today was in our thoughts as we made our way home .

    Keep safe everyone .

We were laid off last Tuesday morning until further notice. Work and money is the last thing on my mind to be honest. By the day this situation is getting worse. Shocking to be honest. I feel for the families of the many victims. Stick to the rules and stay safe.

Just read spurs Newcastle and Norwich have put the non playing staff on the government retention scheme, talk about the greed in football this just clarifies it

Some of these players had better get realistic and very soon I feel .

The country is going to be on its backside for a very long time with many people suffering huge financial hardship .

The football industry will not escape the huge recession that's most certainly going to be heading our way .

The attainable fantasy wages some of these very ordinary players receive are going to be a thing of the past as clubs fight to remain in existence .

It's difficult to comprehend what effects this will have on us. We're in the early stages of lockdown. I feel the situation will go on for months. Dark days ahead.

    I'm working from home.
Record number of transactions. Everyone panicking and selling their shares.
Coincides with the end of the financial year, and all clambering for their new ISA's.
Different world some live in (Daniel Levy & his family are clients of ours).
Can't believe they've got the nerve to continue paying players in full and getting the gov't to subsidise the workers.

Uncharted times to say the least. Let’s hope we all get through this and have jobs to go back to.
A friend of mine is in a bad way from this disease and it hits home when it starts to get the ones you know.

    Stay safe everyone

I’m looking at furloughing another 200 people tomorrow by the end of the week. People gotta understand this is a great thing by the government and saves companies, especially when mine offer 100%.
What is disgusting is what is coming out of football right now with non plying staff taking 80% furlough and playing staff still taking 100%. In contrast up to £2500 a month on furlough versus £600k a week. How companies can still pay the main wage bill and then expect the taxpayer to pay for the majority ‘minimal’ salaries makes my blood boil! How on earth businesses on this much money turn to the government and expect us the taxpayer to pay when they pay their big earners is unbelievable Jeff!
