Finished tonight for a minimum of 4 weeks and expected to be longer .
The owner of the business is an extremely decent and honest guy and is putting in the 20% to make our wages up to our normal salary with of course the government putting in the 80% .
To be honest it had to happen , even though we are classed as key workers because we supply Network Rail and the Electricity supply companies .
Many of our key suppliers were closing down and several Network Rail sites have also had to shut because of the pandemic .
More importantly our own health risks were becoming a factor as the virus spreads .
It's uncertain what the business and trading conditions will look like once this is over but that's for another conversation I feel .
It was a weird atmosphere as we left at 4.30pm for home amongst the lads .
You might say sombre , even a full month off work on full pay didn't exactly raise much banter because we all know the severity of this situation and it's hardly what you'd class as a holiday .
The UK death toll figure today was in our thoughts as we made our way home .
