They will only be allowed a certain amount of government money.
I’d like to think that them that can afford it would voluntary take a wage cut but we know how selfish people can be
Donny and Coventry making the players wages up so they are not loosing out financially.
FFS the fans are keeping these players through season tickets and merchandise yet they are asking the public to pay even more through the 80% scheme. Every player will get £650 per week from the tax payers whilst the EFL has offered a loan/grant whatever to keep the club's going of 125 million whilst offering 20 million to help out the NHS OMFG most of the club's have had the money up front through season ticket sales.. FFS this really sticks in the throat IMO instead of giving the shortfall to make up players wages. Why not give it to the NHS and they could employ 4 or 5 nurses for the same amount.

Quite simple solution - increase the tax for the super-rich, not just the top footballers. Can't see Boris and his old-Etonian chums doing that though unfortunately, unless forced to.
The govt should retrospectively make this means tested whereas they have been actively encouraging every business to do it
So effectively it's a loan to some businesses that has to be paid back either in part or full
They have a responsibility to the taxpayers
Julian Knight, chair of the government's Digital, Culture, Media and Sport committee, welcomed the financial help for smaller clubs but said as the wage cut had not yet been agreed by players, the situation was "not much further along".
Knight had previously said clubs that furlough non-playing staff without imposing cuts on player wages should be subjected to a windfall tax if they do not change their approach by Tuesday.
Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend had spoken of his frustration with Hancock "deflecting blame on to footballers", stating players were an "easy target" and often supported charities.

PFA says Premier League 30% pay cut plans would harm NHS

Laughable comment
30% wage cut equates to approx 500 million. This would be 200 million the government doesn't get in tax so would effect the NHS.
How about using the 300 million to pay the non playing staff and send the 200 million to the NHS instead of the miserly 20 million offered. Is the world going fekin mad
