Premiership are going to do all they can to end this season so EFL only way to go is to end the season now. That means promotion & relegation will be decided by how many games left × by the average points gained from the number of games played this season to calculate the number of points each side would end the season with. BBC sport legal expert said so there's no comebacks from ending the season this way there's got to be an open vote how clubs want to end this season & a clear majority the result of the vote. Most sides even some in premiership need next season. Selling season tickets for it when that becomes possible.

As mentioned above over the French TV rights. If sky remove some of the funding plenty of clubs will be up sht creek.
Burnley said last week if they don't finish the season they would be short about 50 million.

Still think they should set a X day to give clubs clarification
A club like Burnley have been riding the premiership/Sky gravy train for years, loads of clubs have. They will be up sh1t Creek because of what our game has become. This might be a chance to get our game back. To get rid of the huge salaries and let football be what it always was, a working man's game. Clubs certainly aren't going to be f@cked at that level because of this virus but because they've lived way beyond their means with no safety net.

Obviously lots of other smaller clubs are suffering but if you look at football from top to bottom we all live beyond our means but just on different scales.

In terms of sponsorship the sponsors did it for a season which should still stand regardless of how long duration wise that is.

Yes I am hoping that this situation might just reel in all these ridiculous salaries and the gulf between the haves and the have nots.
Sky has skewed the leagues and maybe the bubble is about to burst. A lot of people are likely to have cancelled their subscriptions and will they have the spare cash to join again anytime soon.
Even if Sky continues to prop up the Prem maybe some of the businesses run by the owners will take a hit because of the virus and they won't be able to bank roll their clubs anymore

All I'm saying is that the way we've gone about things this season from the selling of key players last summer , the recruitment , the sacking of Daniel Stendel and of course the results it's almost impossible to make a case that we should be in the championship next season .

There's absolutely no grey area here and I'm simply looking at it from that perspective and nowt else Cayton .

You can make the case for many clubs that they could be promoted and it's a bit of a tw@t but with us we don't deserve anything .

In the the money will decide everything and we will follow what they do.
There's no way that Liverpool will allow anything other than them being champions, so the null and void option won't happen.
Which hopefully means we get promoted.

Yes, money will inevitably be the main factor in determining what happens.
Apparently Sky provide approximately 50% of the broadcast revenue to the Premier League with the balance coming from a variety of tv sources including a significant percentage from overseas companies.
These companies must be getting close to pulling the plug now because they are not being provided with the product they are paying handsomely to show.
Unforeseen circumstances = force majeure = game over. I'm surprised that hasn't happened already.

Yes it's a very important point you have made. Whatever the eventual outcome it will be driven by finance and the example you give of Lpool is that they are bit hitters in U.K. and world football so they will drive what's best for them

Maybe the prem are willing to wait a long time for these games to be played so they don't have to repay TV money

Top of the agenda along with finance must also be the significant points deduction due at S6. With the hapless Gary Monk in charge, an owner who's clearly lost interest and a multitude of average players on £30-40k per week they could be relegated before a ball is kicked next season. One good thing to come out of this pandemic at least

The Belgian football league has cancelled the balance of the season.Bruges have been named champions and the current league tables will stand. Setting a precedent for the rest of Europe ? Hope so.

im sure all of us would like the season to end. out of interest whats the latest date you would consider as a cut off?
personally i would like it to be 7th July. with a decision in place if it doesn't go ahead by then..

that would take us to end of July to see a completion. give the clubs 3 week to recoup and get new players in/sort injury's before the season starts again (a few weeks later). scrap the mickey mouse cups and play more midweek games if needed. i guess this could be tweeked but latest new season should start imo is september.

I think for that timeframe to be realistic all games would be have to be played behind closed doors and although it would get the 'job done' it's a bit against the ethos of football (all sports in fact) being for the fans and the experience.

I'm hopefully wrong but we might not see the autorities lift restrictions on the size of crowds usually at football/sporting events before the end of 2020.
