We're off and running with No 23. I'll post new clues regularly (at least daily). I won't be responding to guesses until someone is correct. Guess as many times as you like. There's no O/T in the title so obviously it's football related. Here we go. Good luck.

I was once sold for a remarkable fee.

I was a favourite around many West Midland clubs.

I played under two of the biggest names in British football.

I did something at Millmoor that I never did again.

I played a part in what has now become almost half a century of defeats at the home of football.

I was also a favourite in many West Midland homes.
