Okay, it's older than 3 years (originally released in 2012), but I'm always happy to share Connection by Jambinai. It's Korean post-rock but uses some traditional Korean musical instruments. https://youtu.be/mpmtnLLZPcg

There's no lyrics in this song, but it may be one of my all time favourite pieces of music. It's haunting, uplifting, and everything in between to me. Maybe this will be someone else's jam, too.

Anything By The War on Drugs. Also check out Australian band from Adelaide Wanderers who you will have never heard of but are outstanding. https://wanderersau.bandcamp.com/

Yesterday was a Leonard Cohen 'music to slit your wrists by' day. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Today is Johnny Cash's 'American collection'. Shivers down spine stuff.
Tomorrow will be either Del Shannon (all-time favourite along with Stringbean) or Bowie.
But to address your idea for music from the last 3 years that has found favour, I have to go with Sam Fender. Amazed when I learned this guy was Brit and not Yank. Even more amazed that he's a North Shields lad. I love the Geordies.
Try his song 'Dead Boys' on You Tube. It's about young men committing suicide. What a haunting video. A super song with great lyrics but the CD will be welcomed into my collection this week and no one will touch it apart from me and the packer.
Haha we cleaned out the shed and I found my entire CD collection thousands of them plus about 150 tapes. The kids have been having great fun with them on a karaoke machine. I got my eldest to hold a a plant and pretend to be Morissey. Very amusing.

Apologies for resurrecting an on old thread (not fred (a very tired in joke)), this is primarily aimed at 60YearsAPie who I believe has similar musical taste as I (Larkin Poe).

I recently discovered this young lady, Joanne Shaw-Taylor, give her a listen.
