Thread: A proposal

    A proposal

    https://spfl.co.uk/news/spfl-clubs-t...of-ladbrokes-s

Only skimmed it as at work but on a quick reading it's hard to argue with...similar for the top-flight will surely follow.

Looks very likely that the top division will have to follow regardless of the kicking and squealing that will arise.

A couple of paras from the proposal -

    the immediate termination of Season 2019/20 for the Ladbrokes Championship, League 1 and League 2, without the remaining fixtures in the League being played;

    all play-off competitions being cancelled

If the resolution is approved, the SPFL has also committed to consulting with Clubs over the possibility of League restructuring ahead of Season 2020/21.

Aye and the bit about the emergency services/government obviously applies to the top-flight too.

It's a shame for us not to end a potentially great season but to me this has been the obvious conclusion for a while.

Curious to see what the carrot/stick of the league changes look like - would not be surprised if Hearts, Thistle, Falkirk etc don't lose out after all.

Correct on the Jambo's comment; they'll be 'relegated', then immediately 're-instated' following reconstruction ... Budge's lawyers wringing their hands already I bet !

words like nail, hammer etc spring to mind, although there is nothing said there not already obvious before.

So no nothing for weeks...surely tomorrow's vote now a formality, as is the furlough process starting at Fir Park for the players? Keep the management to plan next season, social media and sales.

That sounds like a sensible solution all round ... apart from those who inhabit Greyskull. Can hear the squeals already of 'Yeez aw relegated uz to the 3rd divizion 8 years ago, an noo yir gien Sellik their 9 in a row'. Or, words to that effect.

Nope! I say the bottom team should remain relegated.
What with the lack of play-offs, expansion of the top flight by 2 teams could just as arguably go to the next 2 teams after United & let Hearts get their rewards for being bottom.
    That's only fair to all.

If the Cup isn't played out, does that mean the top 4 teams get into Europe?

I don't think anyone seriously thinks this season can be finished, even those voting against today. There's no fair option so the only decision is who gets shafted and if/how they're compensated.

I think they'll hold off on cancelling the cup to try to play it late in the year. fourth will nominally get the last Euro spot but I seriously doubt us or Aberdeen will play a game in that competition next season.

What a disappointment that we'd be robbed and cheated out of our opportunity to catch Rangers - as indeed we still can - and finish second. After all, if Rangers still think that they can catch Celtic...…………...
