As a recap, for the leagues to be declared over, for Celtic to be crowned champions, Hearts to be relegated, Dundee United to be promoted, Partick Thistle to go down and so on through the divisions, nine of the Premiership clubs need to vote for it. Right now, with the SPFL stating the outcome for the top flight would be delayed until after 23 April, it would only appear that Rangers and Hearts are against it. So the resolution will pass its first test.

Next, it needs 15 of the 20 League One and League Two clubs to also vote for it. That looks straightforward. Some of these clubs are bleeding financially and need the injection of cash that calling the leagues would deliver in days. Right now, there's about £8m of TV money sitting in the SPFL bank account awaiting distribution, but it can only be released when final league places are known. The 15 votes required from the bottom rungs will be won easily enough.

The battleground is the Championship. Eight of the 10 clubs are required to vote for the resolution. Partick Thistle are not voting for it. That means the SPFL board need eight votes from nine clubs. As it stands it looks like seven are likely. The one extra vote required to get this resolution passed could conceivably come down to Inverness or Dundee.

FWIW..... Fifa have granted permission for players contracts to be extended beyond the end of their current contract

They have also extended the transfer window beyond August.

Any transfer deals that were in place for this summer are to be suspended until the season is officially over.

Dundee are to vote NO because they believe their are in with a realistic chance of promotion through the play offs, while at the same time, are drafting up their own proposal to be taken to vote, for Champions to be declared but NO promotion or relegation, thus meaning no play offs.

In other words, Nelms is doing all he can to keep us down, whilst completely contradicting his own reason for voting no in the first place with his new proposal.

Ayr have apparently confirmed that they will be voting for ‘Yes’. And I know Arbroath definitely are. You would suspect that all the other mid table teams will too as there is still the potential for any of them to get dragged down into at least the relegation play off spot. So basically, it would appear it’s down to ICT who will have the ‘casting’ vote. That’s where it’s too close to call. Will they vote ‘Yes’ as they are close to admin and need money now or ‘No’ as they feel there was still a chance of promotion through the play offs? Difficult to tell.


Either way, nobody will be voting for the Texan’s bonkers idea of call as it stands but with no promotion or relegation. That’s ‘sporting integrity’ right there.
