A football thread!!!! (Guaranteed Brexit and Virus free...for now!)

Probably nonsense and just the DT looking for something to fill the sports pages, but...they seem to have stuck with the Max Bird linked with Chelsea story for a couple of days now.

Apparently Frank Lampard is keen to take him for £5m.

All seems a little one way from Frank - ‘if you don’t f’in bounce...’ - Lampard to me, but what do we think...any truth in it...utter make believe...or ‘£5m! You’re having a laugh’?

Chelsea are interested, that much is true. How concrete that is still has to be seen. As far as I am concerned reports of £5m on Football Insider are figures plucked out of thin air to enable the journo in question to fill his column inches/online MB of drivel on time and thereby justify his existence.

I give it no credence, whatsoever.

I wonder what £ 5 million will be worth in the new post brexit and covid world (sorry rA!). With all the clubs still paying large wages to expensively paid and acquired players to sit on their collective arses, will we see transfer values fall as football club revenues fall with loss of gate money, sponsorship deal values, pressure to reduce the cost of TV deals etc etc. It would be nice to think that some transfer value deflation might happen? in a likely economically weakened post covid world.

Can't see there being any truth in it Chelsea have young midfielders out on loan all over the globe Plus even Billy Gilbert the best young midfielder I've seen can't get a regular start

    There’s always one...and it’s usually you!

Fair point though...which I suppose will ultimately link in with the extended season to devalue, at least, and kill off altogether, at worst, the whole of the transfer market. Those agents are going to suffer...my heart bleeds!

Good point about Billy Gilbert, mista.

They also have Billy Gilmour at Chelsea, who looks pretty decent as well. Had a great game aginst Liverpool in the Cup back when football was being played.

Thanks RA, your positive post has even brought mista back to play!

Sounds like a non-news story to me, but to play along: I'd sell him up for £5million, we could surely use the funds to strengthen another area of the pitch?

Aye...him too! I unwrapped some dahlia bulbs yesterday from when they were lifted in autumn. They’d been wrapped in ‘The i’ sports pages providing reports on United v West Ham and Arsenal v Spurs. It was like an episode from ‘How we used to Live’.
