I think Hunt would be a great choice over Hancock, but I worry with the history with the Junior Doctors saga is something not ideal or good timing. The daggers be out. I think someone of his calibre is very much needed though.
Hancock and his choice of words doesn’t help either. “If he had a magic wand he’d make sure all PPE were supplied”. FFS, this was an issue a month ago and he answers like that.
I mentioned on here I was offered 500,000 masks and gowns ready to leave China a month ago Regis........properly certified gear.

My speciality is sports equipment so I put feelers out.

BaggieAl gave me the contact details of one of the top people within the NHS who he knew personally.

I emailed her personal email a month ago and didn’t even get the courtesy of a reply.

Government and NHS are inept at managing.

I spoke to my contact for the PPE tonight and he tells me that he’s brokered a deal with a health provider in the USA for these goods.

    Pathetic on our part.

So now you know my stance on the Tories you’ll hopefully take what I say next not as a tory bashing opportunity. I’ve been impressed with what the government has done to date with this pandemic, however don’t you think that in all this Mr Hancock is such a weak link? The guy comes across as way out of his depth. There was this tv interview the other day with him and Hunt. Hancock just didn’t seem to be on his level. Be interested to hear your thought.
Points well made Regis. Hancock really does not perform well under pressure at all and always seems like he’s hiding something. I saw both him and that daft woman health minister getting tore to bits by Piers Morgan this week and it makes you realise how lacklustre some of these people are. I’d bring back Hunt. I think the government and 98% of the public have done a good job with staying at home but the stats I fear will be damning in the end. Fact is governments are meant to plan for the highly unlikely happening and if reports are true, they ignored the advice of planners who warned we were ill prepared for a pandemic 2 years ago. In addition the locking down was way to late when we could see what was happening overseas. Cheltenham and letting 3000 supporters from Madrid over here even when they couldn’t watch the match in Spain due to lockdown was complete madness. Sadly the stats won’t lie. I think Boris is our best choice and like the chancellor a lot but there’s much mediocrity with the rest

Yes, throwing more money at the NHS isn’t the only answer some would have us believe imo. The management is poor for sure typified by the wastage and one half not knowing what the other half is doing. My partner works for a firm who do lots of work for the NHS. The hospitals they provide specialised recycling services for can accrue huge rebates from the recycling of high value items that can run to tens of Thousands in one payment alone and all payable directly back to the hospital it came from. She says that all too frequently due to lack of a process or no one taking ownership/ being sufficiently motivated, they struggle to give away huge sums of money back to the administrators running these hospitals. She’s often spent a day on the phone being passed from pillar to post trying to offload a cheque for a £25K rebate.
