The Shaver murder is on Das YouTube and you can find details of the Tempa killing on the Grauniad website.

I actually heard about them in whilst having a beer with an off duty cop and his wife in a bar on a rooftop terrace in Austin.
I don't know if they voted Republican though - I doubt it. Austin is probably the most Liberal city in Texas.

For anyone who is interested, I've just got back from the demonstration at the Forest Rec. Mulled over hard whether to go beforehand because of the obvious fear spreading the virus. But I decided if I went then I could judge for myself how far I was prepared to go in and went in gloves and a mask etc.

I needn't have worried. It seemed brilliantly organised. There were a lot of people (I'd guess somewhere between 5000-10,000) but from what I saw social distancing was very well-observed throughout. I stayed for an hour and moved around a fair bit (including near enough in to hear the PA system) without once making contact with another human body. I honestly think if i'd tried i'd probably have been able to walk through the centre of the crowd and still not touch anyone. Obviously it helps that the Forest Rec is quite a big and open site.

Frankly i've experienced much worse non-social-distancing behaviour in my local supermarket, in Bridgford Park on weekends and on my road on VE Day, than anything I saw today.

Fair play. To be honest, there should be mass protests every day at the complete criminal f00k up the government has made of the virus situation.

Social distancing is 2m, not 'not making contact'.

Was everyone from different households 2m away from anyone else?

Up to you how you want to understand it I suppose, but I wonder how those who will have to deal with the inevitable hospital stays felt?

It's hard to imagine 5/10,000 people managing to stay 2 metres apart from each other, even on the forest?

Sounds like you followed your gut instinct and did what any reasonable person would do. Well done. Apparently the rules are guidance anyway so I don't see how anyone can object.

Yeah, all the people who are wetting their knickers about those with a really good cause holding protests, but defending to the death the job of an elitist arsehole who broke the rules he helped write and then lied about it just because he could.

    Priorities, priorities.

Talking of elitist arseholes, expect any day now Herr Trump to announce how he knows more about the Floyd case than anyone. How the USA police are the finest in the world and although he loves, really loves, coloureds he cannot believe Floyd was an innocent victim of white aggression, therefore he has decided to halt the prosecution of a truly wonderful, Christian, church-going, family-man - a police hero.

Perhaps someone might object if they catch the virus from a person or person's that were at the meeting?

That's not a fair comment in my opinion, I agree with the sentiments but disagree with mass protests at this time.
